1. Introduction

Welcome to Authentag.io ("Authentag", "we", "our", or "us").

Authentag provides a unified infrastructure platform enabling:

  • Digital Product Passport (DPP) access and display
  • Product authentication and anti-counterfeiting verification
  • Supply chain traceability and lifecycle data access
  • Physical-digital identity linking via tags (QR, NFC, RFID)
  • Unique Identifier (UID) generation, management, and resolution
  • Optional blockchain anchoring and digital twin services

By accessing or using Authentag.io or any associated services ("Services"), you agree to be bound by these Terms.

2. Nature of the Service

Authentag operates as a physical-digital identity infrastructure and service provider for products.

We are NOT: the manufacturer of listed products; the legal owner of product data (unless explicitly stated); a regulator or certification authority.

We provide: Identity issuance (UID); Data access infrastructure; Authentication layers (including secure NFC-based verification); Presentation layer for product-related information.

3. User Types

3.1 Business Users (B2B) — Including brands, manufacturers, distributors, and partners who register products, generate or assign UID, deploy tags, and upload or manage product data.

3.2 End Users (Consumers / Public) — Who scan QR / NFC / RFID tags, view product information, and access authentication results.

4. UID (Unique Identifier) System

4.1 UID Issuance — Authentag may generate or manage globally unique identifiers (UIDs) associated with products. UIDs are unique, non-repeating, non-predictable (randomized where applicable), and persistent over product lifecycle.

4.2 UID Binding — UIDs may be linked to physical carriers (QR code, NFC chip, RFID), digital records, and blockchain entries (optional).

4.3 Responsibility — Business users are responsible for correct association between UID and product. Authentag does not guarantee accuracy of third-party data linked to a UID.

5. Multi-Carrier Access Model

Authentag supports multiple data carriers:

  • QR Code — Basic access to product information and DPP data
  • NFC (NTAG213) — Enhanced access, similar to QR
  • NFC (NTAG424 / secure chips) — Cryptographic authentication
  • RFID — Industrial or logistics use

Important: QR and NTAG213 provide information access only. Secure NFC (e.g., 424) enables authentication verification.

6. Digital Product Passport (DPP)

Authentag provides infrastructure compatible with emerging DPP frameworks, including EU ESPR requirements. However, Authentag does not guarantee regulatory compliance unless explicitly contracted. Responsibility for regulatory accuracy remains with the product owner.

7. Data Ownership

7.1 Business Data — All product data remains the property of the submitting entity. Authentag acts as infrastructure and processor (unless otherwise agreed).

7.2 Display Layer — Authentag may format, structure, and present data without altering ownership.

8. Authentication and Anti-Counterfeiting

Authentag provides secure verification mechanisms (e.g., NFC cryptographic authentication) and scan-based validation results. However, authentication results depend on correct implementation and data integrity. Authentag is not liable for counterfeit products introduced outside the system.

9. Blockchain Anchoring and Data Integrity

9.1 Anchoring Process — Product identifiers (UIDs) and/or associated data records may be generated and bound to physical tags during manufacturing. Following activation and quality control processes, such records may be placed into a processing queue. Authentag may batch-process and anchor queued records to a public blockchain (e.g., Polygon) on a periodic basis.

9.2 Nature of Blockchain Records — Blockchain entries represent a time-stamped, tamper-evident record; may include hashes, identifiers, or references to off-chain data; and are not guaranteed to contain full product data.

9.3 Timing Disclaimer — Blockchain anchoring may not occur in real time. There may be delays between product activation and blockchain recording.

9.4 Scope of Trust — Blockchain anchoring confirms that certain data existed at or before a given time. It does NOT independently verify product authenticity, manufacturing origin, or data accuracy provided by third parties.

9.5 Off-Chain and On-Chain Relationship — Core product data is typically stored off-chain. Blockchain serves as an integrity and audit layer.

9.6 No Guarantee of Permanence — While blockchain systems are designed to be persistent, Authentag does not guarantee perpetual availability of any specific blockchain network.

9.7 User Responsibility — Business users are responsible for correct data submission prior to anchoring and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations regarding blockchain use.

10. Acceptable Use

Users agree NOT to:

  • Register false or misleading product data
  • Clone or reuse UID improperly
  • Attempt to bypass authentication mechanisms
  • Use the system for illegal or fraudulent activity

11. Availability

Authentag aims to provide high availability but does not guarantee continuous uptime or immediate access in all regions.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Authentag shall not be liable for: inaccurate product data provided by third parties; misuse of UID or tags; business losses arising from system use; or regulatory non-compliance of users.

13. Regulatory Position

Authentag is not a government authority; does not certify compliance unless explicitly stated; and operates as infrastructure supporting compliance frameworks.

14. Modifications

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use constitutes acceptance.

15. Governing Law

Applicable law depends on operating entity jurisdiction and applicable regional regulations (including EU data and product regulations where relevant).
